Yorktown Sheet Music ☜
I love rummaging through piles of old sheet music in thrift shops. I’m especially drawn to the piano and organ books from the 1960s and 70s, those years when publishers were determined to make pop and rock feel family-friendly. The results were often bright, groovy covers that landed in that sweet spot between safe and psychedelic. This particular series caught my eye for its unusual illustrations, which remind me of Abe Gurvin, one of my favorite artists of the era. Sadly, these booklets don’t list any artist credits, so the illustrator remains a mystery. Yorktown Music Press, 1965-1966
